Putnam CI Release Paths
Putnam Correctional Institution belongs to the Florida Department of Corrections. Release from this prison is a state event, not a county-jail booking exit. The public FDC release profile and its incarceration-history out date establish that the person left state prison. That physical exit may start active supervision, follow an authorized release mechanism, or coincide with the end of the sentence. Only the relevant records show which path applies.
Florida law recognizes several state-prison release mechanisms, including sentence expiration, expiration as reduced by lawful gain time, clemency, conditional release, conditional medical release, and control release for the covered legal periods. These terms are not interchangeable. The public profile may show “Release Date” without a release-type field, so the date alone should not be relabeled as parole or discharge.
| Record | What it establishes | What it may not establish |
|---|---|---|
| FDC Inmate Release profile | DC number, release date, history, and identity | The standardized release mechanism |
| FDC Supervised Population | Active status, type, dates, and current office | Every term of the controlling order |
| FDC admission/release record | Agency release and movement details | A later court or FCOR change not in that record |
A person who left Putnam Correctional Institution can still have legal control through FDC supervision. “Discharge” should be used only when a record shows that the relevant control ended.
The released detail can also display aliases, sentence-history rows, detainers with a cancellation date when present, and in-custody or out-custody intervals. Those fields help distinguish the correct person and explain a sequence of state custody. A detainer is a notice that another authority may have a claim on the person. Its appearance does not, by itself, state the final destination, so the agency movement record remains the stronger source for that question.
Confirm Putnam CI Releases
Begin at the FDC Offender Search hub. It separates Inmate Releases, Inmate Population, Supervised Population, and Absconder or Fugitive records. The Inmate Releases database includes both people already released and people scheduled for release, and FDC says it updates nightly. A six-character DC number is more reliable than a name because it identifies the state record directly.
- Open Inmate Releases and enter the DC number. If it is unknown, use the full name, alias option, and photograph controls.
- Match the name, photograph, birth date, race, sex, aliases, sentence history, and institution history before accepting a result.
- Read the “Release Date” and incarceration-history out date. Do not call a future date final or guaranteed.
- Search the same DC number in Supervised Population. Compare the supervision begin date with the prison release date.
- Request the admission-and-release record when the release type, destination, or movement history is not public.
The FDC Inmate Release search shows the exact input fields and photo controls.
The state form applies to FDC custody. A person whose only confinement was Putnam County Jail may have no FDC result at all.
Important: An FDC release date confirms the state-prison transition. Check Supervised Population before treating it as complete discharge.
Note: Use the six-character DC number when available because name and alias searches can return several people with similar identifiers.
Putnam CI Records Contact
The institution can answer current operational questions, but formal state release records belong with FDC. A useful request gives the full name, DC number, release period, and Putnam Correctional Institution as the facility. Ask for the admission-and-release record, release date and type, release facility, custody movement or incarceration history, and an available official photograph. FDC reviews records for confidential or exempt content and can provide a cost estimate before preparing copies.

The FDC public-records page provides the formal request route. Central Records can also assist with population history at 850-488-9859 or central.classification@fdc.myflorida.com. The public profile is useful for a first check, but an agency record is the better source when the legal mechanism or an exact movement matters.
When a Commission action may control release, first identify the DC number and meeting date. The Florida Commission on Offender Review publishes a live voting calendar and dated agendas, but no public decision-results database was found in the research. An agenda proves that a matter was set for consideration, not that release was granted. Request the vote or action sheet or final order from FCOR when the actual result is needed.
About Putnam Correctional Institution
FDC identifies Putnam Correctional Institution as an adult male state prison. Its current institutional page lists capacity at 457. Capacity is not a count of releases, and it should not be converted into an estimate of annual flow. The facility's state role also means that county booking numbers and the sheriff's JAIL View are the wrong tools for its release history.
The current identity and contact details appear on the official FDC institution page.
The image confirms the facility's state-prison identity, which controls where its offender and release records are searched.
Leadership and visitation details can change more often than the institution's identity. The facility page should be checked before a visit or operational question. Release verification should still begin with the statewide record because a prison telephone response and an online profile serve different purposes. The public profile creates a searchable history, while institution staff address current facility operations and FDC records staff handle formal copies.

Putnam CI Release History
Putnam Correctional Institution has a documented local history that predates its modern name. An FDC PREA report states that the site began as East Palatka Road Prison in 1936. It was converted to a major institution and renamed Putnam Correctional Institution in 1984. Those facts explain why older records may use a prior institutional name even though current searches use the modern FDC identity.
The FDC institutional history supports the former name and transition. Historical identity does not change the search route: the DC number and statewide incarceration history remain the links between an older stay and a present release record. When asking for an older record, include both facility names if the date falls near the transition.
Note: The former facility name helps locate older material, while the current FDC name and DC number control the modern search.
Putnam CI Release Dates
An active FDC profile labels the prospective field “Current Release Date.” Florida statute calls the agency's gain-time calculation a “tentative release date.” Both terms signal that the date can change. Lawful gain-time awards or restoration may move it earlier, while forfeiture, a corrected sentence, a new order, or another detainer can move it later. It cannot be treated as a promised exit time.
For offenses on or after October 1, 1995, the general incentive framework is limited by the 85-percent rule and other eligibility restrictions. That state rule belongs to FDC sentences. It must not be mechanically applied to a Putnam County Jail term, which falls under a separate county-prisoner statute and local implementation. The Putnam release date lookup separates those systems and identifies the agency that performs each calculation.
| Change | Possible effect |
|---|---|
| Gain time awarded or restored | May move the tentative date earlier within law |
| Gain time forfeited | May move the date later |
| Amended court order or corrected credit | May require recalculation |
| New sentence or detainer | May affect actual release or destination |
After Putnam CI Release
A supervision record can show “Active,” “Active Suspense,” or “Absconder.” Active means the person is on community supervision. Active Suspense can mean the person is temporarily unavailable for direct supervision, such as being in a jail or facility, while an officer watches the case. Absconder means whereabouts are unavailable and a warrant exists; it is not proof of present physical custody.
Putnam County is in FDC Circuit 7, and the official directory lists Palatka unit 073. The profile's Current Location may point to a different office because the supervising unit can follow present residence and case administration rather than the prison's county. Confirm the office with the DC number. For the full county, state, and federal distinction, use the Putnam County released-inmate records path.
Note: A missing supervision hit is useful but not conclusive proof that every legal obligation or custodial transition has ended.
