Understanding Putnam County Releases
A Putnam County release proves that one agency's custody ended. It does not always mean the person went home, the court case closed, or all state control ended. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office records the exit from its jail. The Florida Department of Corrections records a departure from state prison. A court file may show the order that allowed release, while a supervision record may show what followed.
That split matters because Putnam County Jail and Putnam Correctional Institution use different identifiers. The jail assigns booking and MNI numbers. FDC uses a six-character DC number. A person may appear in both systems at different stages, but one result cannot stand in for the other. “Discharge” is best used only when the record shows the relevant legal control ended, not merely that a jail or prison door opened.
- Release
- The end of custody by the named facility or agency.
- Time served
- A sentence resolved through credit for time already spent in custody.
- Transfer
- Movement from one custodian to another, not a return to the community.
- Discharge
- The documented end of the relevant sentence, custody, or supervision.
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may send a person to another custodian.
Putnam County Release Types
The public Putnam County jail result says “Status: Released” and gives a timestamp, but it does not show a standard reason or destination. Bond shown on the booking page is a past booking fact. It is not proof that bond caused the exit. The court docket, sheriff record, or receiving agency must establish what happened next.
| Release path | Meaning | Next record to check |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or judge-ordered release | PCSO custody ends under court authority | Putnam court order and docket |
| Time served or sentence end | The local custodial term is complete | Judgment, sentence, and jail release record |
| Dismissal | A charge may be ended by court action | Filed dismissal and exact booking exit time |
| Probation or supervised release | Physical custody ends while legal supervision continues | Court order and FDC supervision record when applicable |
| FDC transfer | County custody ends and state custody begins | FDC Inmate Population record |
| Other agency transfer | Another county, federal, or immigration custodian may take control | Transfer record and receiving agency locator |
| State prison release | FDC incarceration ends, sometimes with supervision | FDC Release and Supervised Population records |
| Death in custody | The facility's custody ends without a community release | Agency incident, death, and court records |
The core sequence is short: arrest, booking, custody, release or transfer, then any supervision. Probation is court-ordered supervision. Parole is an eligibility-limited legacy process in Florida. Neither should be assumed from a Putnam County “Released” label.
Important: A released result confirms the end of the listed booking. It does not by itself confirm a return to the community.
Putnam County Release Record Fields
PCSO's public result is rich enough to identify the booking and time the exit, yet it leaves out the key reason. Match the name with the photograph, booking number, MNI number, age on booking date, charge, agency, and case number. This guards against a false match when names are alike. The released timestamp then shows when sheriff custody ended.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Status and released timestamp | That the booking ended and when PCSO processed the exit |
| Booking and MNI numbers | Local identifiers for the booking and person |
| Booking image and demographics | Identity checks when names are similar |
| Booking time | The start of that recorded jail stay |
| Charge and statute | The booked allegation, not the final case result |
| Court case and arresting agency | The bridge to the court file and originating agency |
| Bond fields | Historical booking data, not proof of the release method |
| Release method and authority | Not visible in JAIL View; request the agency code, order, or list entry |
| Destination and property records | Not visible in JAIL View; request transfer orders and available receipts |
The underlying agency packet may contain more. Florida's GS2 schedule lists booking cards, court release orders, release method, commitment and release list entries, transfer orders, property records, and receipts among the possible jail records. Request those records when the public view cannot answer how or where the person left.
Note: A case number connects the jail record to court, but a pending or closed case does not replace the PCSO exit timestamp.
Request Putnam County Release Records
PCSO Records accepts requests by email, telephone, mail, or in person. No mandatory form is published. A narrow request should identify the person, booking, and date range, then name the existing records sought. That helps the custodian locate the right packet without being asked to create a new explanation.
- Gather the full name, birth date if known, booking number, MNI number, and approximate booking and release dates.
- Ask for the booking record, commitment and release list entry, exact release time, release method or code, releasing authority, destination or transfer record, and booking photograph.
- State that electronic copies are preferred and ask PCSO to redact exempt parts while providing the rest.
- Ask for a cost estimate before work begins, since PCSO directs requesters to inquire about copy and mailing charges.
- If any part is withheld, ask for the legal basis. Florida law requires the denial basis and supports a written explanation on request.

The PCSO Public Records page identifies the records custodian and each request channel. The captured page helps distinguish the formal records route from a general jail status call.
Use this route for the release method, destination, transfer record, or photo that JAIL View does not supply.
For a state-prison exit, use the FDC public-records route. Give the full name, DC number, institution, and release period, then ask for the admission and release record, release type, movement history, and available official photograph. FDC reviews records for exempt content, estimates cost, and prepares copies after any required payment.
Putnam County Release Record Law
Florida Statutes § 119.07 generally calls for inspection and copying at reasonable times and under reasonable conditions. A custodian must respond in good faith and promptly acknowledge a request. The law sets no universal number of days for completion, so a fixed turnaround should not be promised.
Default copy charges may reach 15 cents for a one-sided page, five cents more for a two-sided page, actual duplication cost for other formats, and up to one dollar for certification. Extensive technology or staff work can support a reasonable special-service charge. When part of a record is exempt, the balance should be released after redaction.
Florida GS2 sets a minimum of one anniversary year after release for copies of booking records, commitment and release lists, and inmate incarceration records, subject to audit release. An agency may retain them longer. The permanent Jail Docket Book can serve as a summary fallback when a detailed packet is no longer held. Online JAIL View retention is not guaranteed by that schedule.
Putnam County Release Processing Times
PCSO publishes an uncommon local schedule for release processing. On weekdays, processing is set for 7:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and midnight. Weekends and holidays operate on a 24-hour cycle. These are processing windows, not a promise that one named person will walk out at a set time.
Court paperwork, identity checks, holds, and transfer plans can affect the actual exit. The public timestamp is the better proof after processing occurs. The PCSO release schedule shows the local timing in the captured image.
The schedule can explain a gap between a judge's action and the sheriff's posted release time, but only the booking record confirms the completed exit.
Note: Call the jail for current pickup or exit instructions because PCSO does not publish a verified exit door, waiting area, or ride point.
Putnam County Release Population Snapshots
FDC county detention reports describe who was in jail on a reporting basis, not how many people left. Putnam's average daily population was 401 in the January 2024 report and 371 in the April 2024 report. The reported pretrial shares were 55.4 percent and 64.7 percent. Those shifts show why a roster is a moving custody snapshot.
These figures must not be converted into annual release totals or average stays. No authoritative Putnam County annual release count or average length of stay was found. A stock count and a flow count answer different questions, and the released-only PCSO search remains the direct tool for individual exits.
Putnam County Release Reentry Support
The Putnam County Re-Entry Program at Heart of Putnam describes help with transportation, food, clothing, and links to social services. Its listed office and direct-service hours differ, so a caller should confirm availability before traveling to 2600 Peters Street in Palatka.
Heart of Putnam can be reached at 386-328-0984. This resource is separate from PCSO Records, the Clerk, and FDC supervision. It helps with practical needs after release but does not certify a release time, court outcome, or supervision status.
Note: Call before visiting because the published office schedule and direct-service schedule do not show the same hours.
Putnam County Post-Release Mail
A former Putnam jail user may sign in to SmartJailMail for up to 30 days after release. The PCSO offender family resources say the person can use the inmate number and password to download photos, messages, and scanned postal mail without charge. This local digital window is useful because access does not end the moment the booking closes.
The 30-day account period is not an official retention rule for release records. PCSO booking and release materials follow agency schedules, while SmartJailMail holds personal account content under a separate process. Property and money receipts may also exist in the jail packet, but no public Putnam workflow for physical property pickup was verified.
Note: The former inmate should save needed SmartJailMail files within the stated window rather than assume later access will remain available.
Putnam County Release Court Dates
Putnam's misdemeanor instructions say a person bonded out or released by a judge receives a court date at release, followed by notices mailed to the address given at arrest. The release date does not end the duty to track the case. Address changes and later docket entries can matter after the jail exit.
The local court system is split across Palatka sites. Listed misdemeanor, juvenile, and drug matters use 410 St. Johns Avenue, while felony proceedings use the courthouse annex at 515 Reid Street. The case number from JAIL View is the safest bridge to the correct file and place.
The Putnam Online Court Records Search provides person and case tabs, criminal case filters, and anonymous public access after its disclaimer. The captured image shows why a case-number search is more exact than a broad name query.
A filed order can explain release authority. The PCSO timestamp still proves when the jail processed the physical exit.
Putnam County Release and ICE
A documented 2019 ICE and PCSO memorandum draws a key line between release from county criminal custody and later assumption of custody by ICE. It shows why “Released” in JAIL View may mark only the end of PCSO control. The person may not have returned to the community.
The old memorandum should not be called a current active agreement without new confirmation. When an immigration transfer is possible, request the PCSO destination or transfer record and check the ICE locator. ICE guidance says its locator can include current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days, though delays and omissions mean a no-result is not final.
Putnam Correctional Release History
Putnam Correctional Institution began as East Palatka Road Prison in 1936. It became a major institution and took its current name in 1984. Today FDC identifies it as an adult male state prison with capacity for 457 people. Its history and role are distinct from the sheriff-run county jail.
A release from this institution belongs in FDC records. Search by DC number in Inmate Releases, then check Supervised Population for control that continued after prison. The state release profile and incarceration-history out date establish the prison exit. PCSO JAIL View cannot confirm that event.
Note: Use the six-character DC number for state records, not the PCSO booking number or MNI number.
Putnam County Sealed Release Records
A missing public result is not proof that no Putnam County release occurred. Spelling, interface coverage, a different custodian, confidential material, sealing, or expunction can all affect public access. Juvenile records are generally confidential, and restricted data must not be inferred from an ordinary no-hit.
Putnam's local process starts with an FDLE Certificate of Eligibility, followed by a petition filed through the appropriate criminal department. The certificate expires after 12 months. State law also requires completion of applicable supervision and certified dispositions, among other terms, and court relief remains discretionary.
A sealed or expunged official record may narrow ordinary access, but it does not support a promise that all copies held elsewhere vanished. The official Clerk and agency routes are the right places to confirm the legal effect.
Note: Treat a later no-hit as an access result, not as proof that the earlier booking or release never existed.
Putnam County Release Account Charges
PCSO states that custody-related account charges may be due at release. It lists exact cash, money order, or certified check as payment forms. If a balance remains unpaid after 14 days, a vendor billing notice may follow.
These are detention-account matters. They do not prove a court fine, release reason, or destination. A person seeking the legal basis for release should still use the court order and sheriff record. Account questions belong with PCSO's offender family resources or the vendor process named there.
Find Putnam County Released Inmates
Start with the custodian that most likely held the person. For a local arrest or county sentence, use PCSO. For an FDC prison term, use the state release search. Federal and immigration systems cover different custody and cannot replace the local booking record.
- Open PCSO JAIL View, expand the filters, choose “Released Inmates Only,” and enter the most exact name available.
- Add release dates when known. Compare the photograph, booking and MNI numbers, age, charges, agency, and case number before accepting the match.
- Copy the exact release timestamp and court case number. Search the case number in Putnam OCRS for the order or disposition behind the exit.
- If state prison is possible, search the FDC Inmate Releases database by DC number, then check Supervised Population under the same number.
- Use BOP for sentenced federal custody, ICE for immigration custody, and VINELink only as a reporting and alert layer.
- If the result is absent or lacks the release method, ask PCSO or FDC for the existing release and transfer records.
Why the name leaves the roster: A live roster tracks current custody. Once PCSO processes the exit, use released-only records rather than treating absence as proof.
The official PCSO JAIL View provides the released-only control and date fields shown in the captured interface.
The expanded filters, not the default recent-booking view, are the path to a past Putnam County release. PCSO testing found historical released results in selected years as early as 2000, but that does not prove full coverage or permanent access. Search reasonable name variants and try “Both Current And Released” before filing a focused records request.
Florida Release Offender Search
The Florida Department of Corrections search hub separates Inmate Population, Inmate Releases, Supervised Population, and Absconder or Fugitive searches. Inmate Releases covers people already released or scheduled for release and updates nightly. It excludes county-jail-only custody and county probation, so a Putnam jail release can be valid with no FDC result.
| Search field or control | Type | Use |
|---|---|---|
| DC number | Six-character identifier | Most exact state match |
| Last and first name | Begins-with text search | Use when the DC number is unknown |
| Alias search | Optional control | Checks names tied to the FDC identity |
| Photo controls | Display or match option | Helps distinguish similar names |
| Result count | 10 to 50 rows | Changes page size, not record scope |
A released detail uses “Release Date” and can show a photo, sentence rows, detainers, and incarceration in and out dates. An active inmate profile uses “Current Release Date,” while Florida law calls the gain-time calculation a tentative release date. Search the same DC number in Supervised Population after the prison exit. An Active status means community supervision continues.
The official FDC released-detail example shows the public release label and history fields in the captured interface.
This state record should be paired with supervision data when release from prison may have led to continued FDC control.
Putnam County Recent Release Search
Putnam has a true released-person search, but no verified one-click rolling 24-hour or 72-hour feed. The JAIL View landing label “BOOKED Last 24 Hours” concerns recent bookings. It must not be read as a list of people who just left.
Choose “Released Inmates Only” and set begin and end release dates. A same-date query creates a calendar-day view. Three dates create a three-calendar-date range. Neither is an exact rolling interval, and PCSO publishes no refresh cadence or online-retention promise. The result can show the photograph, identity fields, booking and release times, bond data, and detailed charge rows. It still omits the release method and destination. For a date-specific agency list that includes “how released,” ask PCSO for the existing Commitment and Release List. Florida GS2 gives that record a one-year minimum copy-retention period after release, subject to audit release.
Is JAIL View a fixed 24-hour release list? No. The official portal can build a calendar-date released search, but its default 24-hour view is a booking view. A correct Putnam County 24-hour check must use release-date filters.
Note: No verified official PCSO app or social feed supplies a complete Putnam County release list, so the sheriff website remains first.
Putnam County Release Supervision Checks
Physical release does not always end legal control. FDC Supervised Population can show supervision begin date, current status, type, location, and scheduled termination date. “Active” means active community supervision. “Active Suspense” can mean an officer is monitoring a person who is temporarily unavailable, including while in another facility. “Absconder” describes unavailable whereabouts and a warrant, not confirmed physical custody.
Florida parole is limited mainly to older eligible offenses and narrow legacy groups. Most modern prison releases are not discretionary parole. The court judgment defines probation terms, FDC shows state supervision status, and FCOR records control a Commission release decision. Compare those records before calling a physical release a discharge.
Florida VINELink can provide a status and alert layer. FDC participation is verified, but no public PCSO source independently confirmed Putnam jail participation. Confirm the reporting agency in a live result before relying on a county notification. For qualifying registry cases only, the FDLE Sexual Offender and Predator Search may show a release or supervision status. It is not a general released-inmate list.
Putnam County Federal Release Checks
No federal prison or ICE detention center was verified in Putnam County, but transfers still matter. The BOP inmate locator covers federal prison records generally from 1982 forward. It accepts a federal number or name and can show a release date and location. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” means BOP custody ended, not that every other custody or supervision ended.
Federal pretrial detainees may be held in local or contract beds under the U.S. Marshals Service. USMS has no matching public release locator, so use the federal court docket and the actual holding facility for a pretrial exit. A result marked “IN TRANSIT” is not a release. A community corrections location may remain part of the federal custody structure.
ICE's Online Detainee Locator uses either a nine-digit A-number plus country of birth, or exact name plus country of birth and an optional birth date. It is for current detention and certain recent releases. It does not replace the PCSO release record when the first event was the end of county custody.
Note: A county transfer to USMS, BOP, or ICE is a custody change, not proof of community release.
Putnam County Release Status Comparison
The right record depends on who had custody and whether the question concerns a past exit or present status. One system may show release while another correctly shows current custody or supervision. Read the agency name before reading the status word.
| Situation | Primary source | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Current Putnam jail custody | PCSO current-inmate filter | An active county booking |
| Past Putnam jail release | PCSO released-only filter and record request | Exit time, with requested method or destination |
| Current state prison custody | FDC Inmate Population | State incarceration and current release-date field |
| Past state prison release | FDC Inmate Releases | Release date and incarceration history |
| Post-prison state supervision | FDC Supervised Population | Status, type, location, and supervision dates |
| Sentenced federal custody | BOP locator | BOP location or release information |
| Immigration detention | ICE locator plus PCSO transfer record | ICE status and the prior county custody handoff |
Why can two official results look different? They may describe different agencies and different moments. A PCSO release and an active FDC or ICE record can both be correct if custody moved.
Putnam County Release Facilities
Two physical facilities form the local release map. Putnam County Jail is the sheriff-run booking facility for pretrial custody, local terms, and transfers. Its release path starts with JAIL View and PCSO Records. Putnam Correctional Institution is an adult male FDC prison. Its release path starts with the FDC state databases.
- Putnam County Jail: 130 Orie Griffin Boulevard, Palatka, FL 32177; 386-329-0800. Confirm the exit time in JAIL View and request the method or destination from PCSO.
- Putnam Correctional Institution: 128 Yelvington Road, East Palatka, FL 32131-2100; 386-326-6800. Confirm release and later supervision by DC number through FDC.
- No separate local federal or ICE facility: use BOP, the federal docket, USMS custody information, or ICE only when that later custodian applies.
A person may move from one line of the map to another. Keep the booking number, case number, and DC number separate. Each identifier belongs to a distinct system and proves a different part of the custody history.
